Comprehensive Break bulk Solution with Fumigation Services Successfully

In the course of break bulk and project cargo transportation, wooden crate packaging is sometimes required due to the characteristics of the equipment. For shipments destined for certain countries, such wooden packaging must comply with mandatory fumigation regulations. As a professional project logistics and break bulk transportation specialist, our company is fully capable of providing these auxiliary yet critical services as part of an integrated logistics solution.

Recently, our company successfully handled a shipment of large-scale equipment used for air conditioning systems, transported from Shanghai, China to Houston, USA. The shipment consisted of a total of six units. Among them, three pieces were oversized cargo with dimensions of 4.3 meters in length, 4.25 meters in width, and 4.65 meters in height, with a total weight of 20 tons. These units fell well within the category of conventional oversized cargo for breakbulk vessels. Thanks to our extensive experience in handling similar shipments, these three units could be smoothly arranged under standard breakbulk operations without any special complications.

However, the remaining three units were packed in wooden crates. As per the import requirements of the destination country, these wooden packages required certified fumigation treatment before export. Considering the tight schedule and the importance of ensuring full regulatory compliance, our company adopted an EXW (Ex Works) operation model for this shipment, allowing us to take full control of the entire logistics process from the point of origin.

Under the EXW arrangement, our in-house truck fleet was deployed to collect the cargo directly from the shipper’s premises. Given the oversized nature of the equipment, low-bed trailers were carefully selected and arranged to ensure safe and compliant road transportation. The cargo was then transported directly to a designated fumigation facility, where emergency fumigation treatment was carried out in accordance with international phytosanitary standards. Our operations team closely coordinated with the fumigation provider to minimize waiting time and ensure that all required documentation was properly issued without delay.

Upon completion of the fumigation process, the cargo was promptly transported to the port terminal using our own vehicles. At the port, our dedicated ground operations team took over, managing terminal coordination, cargo positioning, and pre-shipment inspections. Leveraging our strong on-site capabilities, we ensured that all handling procedures met both safety standards and vessel requirements, paving the way for smooth loading onto the breakbulk vessel.

This shipment involved multiple logistics segments, including low-bed trucking for oversized cargo, emergency fumigation services, port ground handling, and international breakbulk sea transportation. By integrating all these elements into one seamless operation, our company demonstrated its ability to manage complex project cargo under time-sensitive conditions. Throughout the entire process, punctuality and cargo safety remained our top priorities, and all six units were delivered to the vessel on schedule without any incidents.
