Emergency handling Shipment of Oversized Crushers from Shanghai to Pasir Gudang

Recently, our company successfully completed the shipment of two sets of large-scale crushing equipment from Shanghai, China, to Pasir Gudang, Malaysia, by break bulk vessel. This project once again demonstrated our team’s professional expertise, quick response, and strong coordination capabilities in handling oversized and heavy cargo.

Project Overview

The cargo consisted of two oversized crushers.

The first unit measured 16.8 meters in length, 3.2 meters in width, 3.8 meters in height, and weighed 58 tons.

The second unit measured 14.1 meters in length, 3.4 meters in width, 3.8 meters in height, and weighed 45 tons.

Both pieces were categorized as heavy-lift cargo due to their weight and volume. The project was initially well-planned, with the stowage positions carefully allocated based on the provided dimensions. However, upon arrival at the loading site, a major change occurred — one of the units was found to have increased in size to 18.8 meters long, 3.6 meters wide, and 4.65 meters high.

This unexpected change meant that the original stowage arrangement was no longer suitable, posing a real risk of cargo being rolled over to a later sailing.

Challenges and Our Immediate Response

Facing this sudden challenge, our project team acted quickly. We immediately contacted the shipping company to reassess the space allocation and evaluate new loading options that could accommodate the enlarged cargo. Thanks to our team’s strong technical understanding of stowage planning and years of experience handling break bulk shipments, we were able to propose an optimized solution within a very short time.

Meanwhile, we coordinated closely with the port operator and surveyor to ensure lifting and loading safety under the revised plan. Every detail — from lifting gear selection to cargo securing — was carefully reviewed to meet both operational safety and vessel stability requirements.

Professional Execution

Our company has extensive resources in the heavy-lift and break bulk shipping sector, allowing us to match the customer’s required sailing schedule efficiently. Leveraging our long-term partnerships with reliable vessel owners and operators, we quickly secured the necessary adjustments and obtained final approval from the shipowner.

During the on-site operation, our team maintained constant communication among all parties — including the shipper, stevedores, and vessel representatives — to ensure smooth coordination. The loading operation was carried out with precision and efficiency, and the cargo was successfully stowed on board according to the revised plan.
